Fled
Police officers stopped a car with two occupants for a routine check in the Esch-sur-Alzette area on Tuesday evening. A strong smell of cannabis was coming from the vehicle, prompting officers to carry out an on-the-spot drugs test, which the driver failed. Further searching the car, police discovered several grams of drugs.
While police were still in the process of checking the vehicle and its occupants, the situation suddenly escalated. Without warning, the driver sped off, forcing two officers to jump aside to avoid being hit by the fleeing car. A large-scale search was immediately launched, involving traffic police units, a canine unit, and a police helicopter.
25 grams and cash
Despite initial efforts to evade capture, police came across a bag containing around 25 grams of hashish and a significant amount of cash not far from where the check had taken place. The driver, who had abandoned his vehicle and was on foot, was later apprehended. The second occupant was also located a short time after.
The car used by the suspects was seized, and the driver received an immediate driving ban. Police also reported a similar incident earlier that evening on Marburgerstrooss in Marnach, where officers found and seized a small quantity of hashish from a vehicle smelling strongly of cannabis.
