Yellow Alert

Meteolux has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms across Luxembourg, valid from 8pm Thursday evening through 9am Friday morning.^[1]

The storms could bring 15 to 25 litres of rain per square metre in a short period, along with hail and highly localised, intense wind gusts. The alert covers the entire country, though Meteolux did not specify which areas are most likely to see the worst conditions.

After weeks of drought and early harvests, a downpour is almost cinematic. The dry earth will struggle to absorb that much water quickly, which means localised flooding is a real possibility, especially in urban areas and underpasses.

If you are out Thursday evening, keep an eye on the sky and maybe move the car off the street.
