Kayl

A 26-year-old man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, failing to stop and report an accident, driving under the influence of alcohol, and failing to assist a person in danger. He is currently being held in pre-trial detention after appearing before a judge on Monday morning.

The man was arrested on Sunday following a hit-and-run in Kayl in the early hours of the morning. The collision left a 16-year-old boy with injuries so severe he later succumbed in hospital. The vehicle showed traces of the collision on the passenger's side.

An autopsy has been ordered for the teenage victim.

The public prosecutor's office underlined the gravity of the offences, above all due to the accused's failure to stop after the collision and his lack of concern for the victim.
