The Tunnel

A serious accident occurred shortly after 2:30am in the Grouft tunnel on the A7 motorway heading towards Luxembourg City. A lorry and a car collided, and the car overturned, leaving the driver injured. Firefighters from Steinsel and Lintgen responded, supported by an ambulance from Luxembourg City and the emergency medical service.

The rest of the weekend kept emergency services busy across the country. Firefighters in Frisange extinguished a burning rubbish bin on Rue de Luxembourg at around 6pm. At the same time, a hedge caught fire on Rue des Vignes in Lenningen, dealt with by firefighters from Canach.

Shortly after, another rubbish bin caught fire on Avenue de la Gare in Esch-sur-Alzette, attended by firefighters from Kayl. Two vehicles collided on Route du Vin in Remich at 6:45pm, with no injuries reported. Firefighters from Hobscheid and Tuntange responded to a vegetation fire between Septfontaines and Ehner before 8pm.

After midnight, another bin fire broke out on Rue Mathias Hardt in Luxembourg City, swiftly extinguished by local firefighters.

A tunnel, several bins, a hedge, and two collisions. The heat does not only dry out forests.
