Friday Evening

Luxembourg Air Rescue was deployed twice on Friday evening, responding to two separate crashes that injured eight people total. The first call came shortly before 5pm: a two-car collision on the N11 between Graulinster and Junglinster. Six people were injured. Ambulances were despatched from Echternach, Junglinster, Larochette, and Mertert.[1]

The second call came around 7pm in Huldange, on the road Op d'Schmëtt, where a bus struck a pedestrian. Two people were injured. Air Rescue was deployed again, along with an ambulance from Troisvierges. Two more fires were reported that evening, one on Route de Longwy in Rodange and another on Rue de la Libération in Linger, both causing material damage but no injuries.[2]

Eight injured across two crashes in one evening is a busy night for emergency services. The N11 between Graulinster and Junglinster is a rural road, winding, and fast. Two cars, six injured, suggests a high-impact collision. The Huldange incident, a bus striking a pedestrian, is a different category of accident. Bus-pedestrian collisions are rare but severe. Huldange is in the north of the country, near the Belgian border. Troisvierges is the closest ambulance station. Air Rescue being deployed for both incidents means the injuries were serious enough to require helicopter transport, which is not routine. It is reserved for cases where ground transport would take too long or where the injuries demand faster care.[3]
