Rue de la Frontiere

Police were called to an incident in Vianden at around 4:25am on Tuesday after reports that an ATM had been blown up on Rue de la Frontiere. A police spokesperson confirmed to RTL that the suspects are currently on the run. Several units, including forensic officers, remain at the scene, while the road has been closed as the investigation continues. No one was injured.[1]

The police operation was still noticeable more than an hour later. At around 5:30am, officers in unmarked vehicles were seen travelling at high speed northbound on the A7, while several police vehicles were positioned at various locations on the motorway heading towards Luxembourg City. At around 5:50am, the police helicopter was also seen flying over Kirchberg.[1]

Police are now searching for a white Mercedes-Benz convertible with a black soft top in connection with the incident. The vehicle is displaying the Luxembourg registration plate YQ8591, although police say the number plate was stolen. Anyone who has seen the car is asked to contact police immediately on 113.[1]
