Four Thousand Eight Hundred and Five

16 year old Anton Fedorov successfully reached the top of Mont Blanc on July 24, 2026, becoming the youngest Luxembourger ever to do so. Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps and in Western Europe, standing at 4,805 metres above sea level. Located on the border between France and Italy, the region is known worldwide for its Alpine scenery, snow-covered peaks and glaciers. Mont Blanc is regarded as a challenging ascent due to its high altitude, unpredictable weather and technical terrain, making thorough preparation and training extremely necessary.[1]

Anton set his mind on climbing the mountain when he was only 14. During his frequent visits to Chamonix with his mother, he had always been enthralled by Mont Blanc. Compelled by its beauty and fuelled with the motivation that not many have, he made up his mind and began his training.[1]

Anton and his mother spent the whole year before the hike doing mountain courses and training opportunities. Anton recalls two months of four to five intense workouts a week. He benefitted from leg exercises and hill runs in his local town. At 16 years old, juggling school, exams, training and personal life leaves little room to breathe. Many of the most intense parts of his training occurred in unison with major exams for his schooling. Anton remarked on his commitment to the final goal and the challenges on his discipline as he was forced to put personal events on pause in order to achieve what he wanted.[1]

Accompanied by his mother and their mountain guide, Anton was ready when the day arrived. All the hard work paid off. 4,805 metres. The youngest Luxembourger to stand on top.[1]
