Triple Murder
The two suspects are aged 44 and 71 years old and reside in France. A European arrest warrant had been issued by the French judicial authorities of Coutances. On Friday, the Luxembourg public prosecutor's office confirmed the suspects had been taken into custody by Luxembourg police. They are to be extradited to France in due course. Three people were found dead in South Africa earlier this month, thought to have been murdered by an organised gang.[1]
Two suspects. Two ages: 44 and 71. Two countries: France and South Africa. One warrant, issued in Coutances, a small town in Normandy. Three people dead in South Africa. The suspects live in France. They were arrested in Luxembourg. They will be extradited to France. The crime was in South Africa. The warrant was French. The arrest was Luxembourgish. The connection between Coutances and South Africa is not explained. The connection between a 71-year-old and an organised gang is not explained either. What is explained is that Luxembourg arrested them, and France wants them, and three people are dead.[1]
Earlier this month, a third suspect in the Eschweiler homejacking was arrested in Thailand and extradited to Luxembourg. The pattern is the same: crimes that cross borders, suspects who cross borders, arrests that happen in countries that are not where the crime was. Luxembourg is small. The crimes that reach it are not always Luxembourgish. But the arrests are.[1]
