Second Stop
Flight EZY85PB from London to Naples made an unplanned stop in Luxembourg on Friday due to a medical emergency. The Airbus A320 departed London at 5:48am, landing at Findel at 7:45am. Two people received emergency treatment from the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS). The passengers were made to disembark the flight. Another aircraft was summoned to Luxembourg to continue the journey to Italy.[1]
This is the second unplanned stop at Findel airport this week, after a Ryanair flight had to make a detour on Tuesday due to an emergency on board.[1]
Two emergency landings at Findel in one week. On Tuesday, a Ryanair flight from London made an emergency landing. On Friday, an easyJet flight from London made an emergency landing. Both were Airbus aircraft. Both were heading south. Both had medical emergencies on board. Both were met by CGDIS. In both cases, the passengers disembarked and waited for another plane. Findel is not a big airport. It does not have many scheduled flights. But it has a runway, and a fire brigade, and a hospital nearby, which is what a medical emergency needs. The flights were going to Naples and to Albania. They ended up in Luxembourg. The passengers got there eventually. The emergencies got there faster.[1]
