Up and Down
From midnight on Friday, fuel prices in Luxembourg will change, with increases for diesel and heating oil but a drop in 98-octane petrol rates. The price of diesel will rise by 3.6 cents, bringing the cost per litre to 1.889 euros. Heating oil will also become more expensive, with an increase of 3.8 cents per litre, making the new price 1.380 euros per litre.[1]
However, not all fuel prices are on the rise. The price of 98-octane petrol, otherwise known as super unleaded, will decrease by 3.5 cents, with a new price of 1.903 euros per litre from Friday onwards.[1]
Diesel goes up. Heating oil goes up. 98-octane goes down. The diesel driver pays more. The heated home costs more. The super-unleaded driver pays less. Two up, one down. Earlier this month, this blog wrote about fuel price increases under the title "Five Point Two." Two weeks ago, "Ten Filling Stations" covered supply disruptions from low river levels. The prices move. The rivers drop. The pumps adjust. The cycle continues.[1]
